PraiseProjector

First of all, let me point out that PraiseProjector is still (or rather continuously) under development, it is not a fully mature product, so I ask for the patience and understanding of potential users.

The PraiseProjector is a free solution for Christian churches to edit the songs to be performed, store and share with each other and during live occasions, the lyrics and chords of musicians appear before the musicians, and they can project the text to the church or the audience.

PraiseProjector has two approaches: one is a desktop application that can be used to project and maintain lyrics when connected to a projector and does not require network access, and the other is a webapp that can be used online from a modern browser even without installation.

For the latter, there is also an Android app, which basically provides a framework for the webapp, but also allows direct communication between devices, so it can be used without internet or even WiFi network, for example for small gatherings.

Why?

Offline There are already many programs to project the lyrics of praises, and there are many free. Why one more?

Praiseprojector is different from other similar applications in two things:

  • Keeps the lyrics maintenance and projection as simple as possible
  • In addition to lyrics, it can store and display chords for musicians, making it a kind of flexible digital "sheet music"
  • Simple maintenance, adaptive projection

Projecting The PraiseProjector as a result of the projection that can be automatically tried. Therefore, there is no need to manually format and divide the texts for projection, it is sufficient to adjust the font and size. The program automatically breaks the text and the individual sections become visible. It also automatically reduces the font size for better breakdown on request and indicates which lyrics to be projected can be problems. Of course, here is a wallpaper adjustment or letter color, format, frame, etc.but the primary purpose of Praiseprojector is simplicity and easy usability.Against this background, for example, the search between songs supports searching for "similar" words.

    Chords for the musicians

Profiles The PraiseProjector uses a ChordPro-based database that allows you to store chords beyond the lyrics. This format is used in many places, but the praiseprojector also contains a wyswyg editor and not only stores but interprets recorded chords, so it is possible to transpose the songs during the performance. Because the desktop projector contains a built-in web server, the program can be connected to both tablets or mobile phones on intra and internet, which can function as a quasi-core.
The PraiseProjector is capable of storing the compiled dallists and individual preferences of each praise, in what tone and Capo positions he likes to perform certain songs. Since different versions can be stored in the songs, you can also record which version you prefer.

    Online

    Digital "sheet music"

There is no need for the Internet to achieve the full functionality of the PraiseProjector, but to exploit the essential potential at least an intranet network that can be provided by a WiFi router (or even PC with WiFi).

However, the real strength of the PraiseProjector is in its online functionality. If the Internet is available, no PC is required for use.

A tablet, phone or any HTML5 compatible browser is enough to use it as a smart TV.

The clients include a driver who can select the currently displayed song from the database or even from a pre -compiled list, change the tone. The other displayers automatically apply, for example, the projector operator no longer needs to search the song that is just being upset, just to designate the solo section. The designated text is not only displayed on the projector, but also emphasizes the clients on request.

    Editing

    Import

Import If Microsoft Word* is available on your PC, the use of Praiseprojector on Microsoft Windows* is able to import text files in different format format (eg HTML, DOC, RTF, PDF, TXT). During the wizard process, the application guides and helps to import "striped" songs, automatically detects the lines containing chords, tries to determine the kind of gorge used in it, and normalize the notation system. Ideally, you only need to review and approve the steps and finally articulate or record other metadata as you like.

    WYSWYG editor

WYSWYG The PraiseProjector does not require users to know the ChordPro format and adhere to the format requirements while editing. Similarly to a modern word processor, the user sees a song in its final form while editing, pull and pronounce chords and edit metadata without having to know ChordPro codes. The PraiseProjector does not handle the format function supported by the entire ChordPro, but it interprets fixed chords and has several comfort features to place and edit chords.

    Questions and answers

It is usable, although the primary purpose of the public song database is to facilitate the life of small churches where there are non -professional musicians who need to play a "little help" to play a repertoire often. The methodology of categorizing songs is still under construction, but I plan to store songs in different categories and look for everyone to find what they are looking for.

The reason for this is that there is currently no written documentation for the software, so for the time being, a personal relationship with someone who knows how to use it is needed.Although I have tried to design the interface to be easily understood, there may still be fundamental questions about use.

And then, for the time being, the users' camp is not too large, and I love to hear about the new ones.

The Windows software is completely free and remains, so I can recommend it to start using it, there will be no time and energy to learn how to use it, to build its own database.

If you would like to use the amount of users or functions that my private server capacity cannot be used, I would obviously have to rent a server, which would obviously cost.If this cost could no longer fit into my budget, I would probably accept donations for maintaining.

Of course, donations are always welcomed by everyone ;o) but this phase is not yet possible.

The reason for this is that there is no free option for the digital minerals of software and since the software is free, zero revenue does not cover the cost of digital signature, which is not a one -time but annual fee.

If you are funded by someone, I am very happy to buy a digital signature, but I have to say that this does not add anything to the value of the software.Plus, I work on all features available in the online version and then desktop software can really only require those who do not have a stable internet access or do not want to depend on it.

There are two reasons for this:

  • One is that the code was developed iteratively to the demands and there is serious need of refactorization. Besides since I wrote it alone, the source code is also severely under documented, which would make community use very difficult.
  • Another reason is that I do not really know how I can control the direction of development if the projects of the project may start to reproduce, even though I would like to determine the direction of the development myself for the time being.
  • Nonetheless, if someone would be happy to help develop it, apply.Although it should be documented primarily and improved on web design.

The primary purpose of the project is to provide a "quality" collection that is used by everyone.Unfortunately, however, in my experience, many people tend to follow the most basic editing principles. As a result, I was forced to introduce permissions and restrictions in the editing options for use within a group so that enthusiastic, but unknown or careless collaborators do not ruin the work of others.

Currently, there is a system that is responsible for ensuring that the database is useful for everyone and remains. I will publish more information about this in the near future.

At present, yes, this is primarily due to Microsoft Word. The desktop program was written in C# .NET, if I see it in the future, I can try to move to other operating systems on the .NET core line, but for the time being I think there is greater leave in online functionality.

Basically, I have no capacity to proactively test the application with all kinds of browsers. Thanks to God, Chrome Engine begins to become a quasi -standard, so most modern browsers will not be a problem.

If someone still needed to work with a certain browser (which may not work now), then contact me and try to do what I know for a good cause.

But there is.I myself made several different units for this purpose. It is also planned to apply general MIDI controllers, which can be connected to the appropriate tablet with or without wired (say blutooth).

First of all, thank you for your offer.

Of course, contact me as a first step with the form at the bottom of the page.

  • As I wrote earlier, there would be a great need for a user manual.Of course, it could be in the form of demonstration videos, but - though it's very modern - I don't like them because you can't look for it or run along the "diagonals".
  • Someone would be good at web design, vector graphics and could give the system something nice and uniform.
  • The program is now available in English and Hungarian, but if there is a need for other languages, it would also require help.
  • And of course, they always need to.But maybe this gives yourself up if someone uses the software, you just need to take the trouble to make a mistake.Per pill no one else comes to my mind.
  • Because the HTML Template, which I used to create this site was as such, and I couldn't resist it to be tempted to use as many elements as possible. Of course, it makes no sense, I admit.
